2024 Study Abroad/Away Opportunity & Access Scholarships (SOAR)

With funding secured by the Office of the Provost, International Academic Initiatives is pleased to announce the SOAR Scholarships. Awards will be as follows: up to $3000 for semester abroad programs, $2000 for Summer and National Student Exchange, and $1500 for short-term faculty-led programs. These awards are available to ÇàÇà²Ýapp of any major who have demonstrated financial need. In order to be considered, ÇàÇà²Ýapp must also complete their program application by the respective program deadline (Oct. 1st for Spring semester study, November 1st for Spring Break faculty-led programs, January 9th for Spring Programs with Summer Travel, and Mar. 1st for Summer and Fall semester programs. Applicants will be asked to provide short answers (150-300 words each) to the following questions using the application link below.

  • Explain how your study abroad program will help advance your future academic and/or professional goals.
  • Describe how you plan to engage culturally during your study abroad experience.
  • Please share how the scholarship will help bring study abroad within your financial reach.

The next deadline to apply is March 1, 2024, for the following types of study abroad programs: Summer 2024, Summer Faculty-Led Programs, Fall 2024 semester programs, and 2024-2025 Academic Year programs.

The program includes a full scholarship funded by both ÇàÇà²Ýapp State University and the City of Graz.  It currently offers two ÇàÇà²Ýapp State undergraduate ÇàÇà²Ýapp the opportunity to study tuition-free, with housing and a stipend for one academic year in Graz, Austria.

ÇàÇà²Ýapp State undergraduate ÇàÇà²Ýapp majoring within the Feliciano School of Business or the College of Science and Mathematics have the opportunity to apply for the Erasmus+ Scholarship to help subsidize the cost of a semester exchange at the University of Graz. This application is to study at Uni-Graz for either the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 semester with partial scholarship.

The scholarship provides one semester of € 820 travel subsidy and an € 850 per month stipend to help with living expenses.  Students are billed for tuition and fees by ÇàÇà²Ýapp State. Students may apply for the academic year, but will only receive funding for one semester.

Harold S. Sloan Trust Award

$300-800 for semester or academic year exchange program for ÇàÇà²Ýapp in social sciences. No application required. All eligible ÇàÇà²Ýapp who complete a study abroad application by March 1 will be considered.

The Dugan Scholarship

A $500 scholarship for semester or academic year exchange. No application required. All eligible ÇàÇà²Ýapp who complete a study abroad application by March 1 will be considered.

Peter Balsamo Scholarship for Language and Heritage Study Abroad 

$500-1,000 Award to ÇàÇà²Ýapp State student with financial need to study language and/or heritage abroad. Apply here:

Polly & Greg Dell’Omo Global Studies in Math  

$500 awarded annually to a ÇàÇà²Ýapp State student studying mathematics. No application required.  All eligible ÇàÇà²Ýapp who complete a study abroad application by March 1 will be considered.

Anita Magistro Udell Scholarship for Language Majors       

$1,000 awarded annually to a student majoring in a foreign language who is in financial need or identifies as an underrepresented minority. No application required. All eligible ÇàÇà²Ýapp who complete a study abroad application by March 1 will be considered.

Margaret B. Holz Scholarship Award (approximately $500)

For undergraduate language majors studying abroad.
